ವಿಶೇಷಣ (viśeṣaṇa — adjective/qualifier)

ಅರ್ಥ: ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ನಾಮಪದದ ಗುಣ/ಸ್ವಭಾವ ಸೂಚಿಸುವ, ಅದೇ ಲಿಂಗ-ವಚನ-ವಿಭಕ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪುವ ಪದ. Meaning: A word that describes another noun and agrees with it in gender, number, and case.

ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶೇಷಣ ವಿಶೇಷಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವ ನಾಮಪದದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಲಿಂಗ, ವಚನ, ವಿಭಕ್ತಿ ಮೂರರಲ್ಲೂ ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು — ಈ ಒಪ್ಪಂದ ಪದಗಳ ನಡುವಿನ ಸಂಬಂಧ ಗುರುತಿಸಲು ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ, ಪದಕ್ರಮ ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರವಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ಸಹ.
